I'm like you - I hate to throw out my mineral makeups because I paid so much for them, but this only cements my desire never to put it on my face ever again.
I started with the Bare Minerals, and loved it to death. I looked so natural! And then I started breaking out horribly, and would have to use more makeup to cover up the spots, and the cycle was just endless. Before I never had serious issues with acne, but I got what I called "cluster zits" around my temples and chin that were painful, red, and never went away no matter what I did.
So I switched to Cleure's bismuth-free brand, and dang it if the same thing didn't happen! Only now, I have these horrible cysts on my face, mostly around my cheeks and mouth, and I am mortified to go out in public without a lot of make-up on - even to the gym! It makes me want to sue, for products liability I work at the court and see people suing for less But my mom doesn't believe it's the mineral makeup because it hasn't given her acne.
Thing is, I stopped using all mineral makeups about a week ago and have still not seen any improvement. How long in general does it take? Yesterday I went with Golden Medium Matte Base, it was a little light but to be fair I have been hitting the beach for a tan the last few days I'm sure it would have been a perfect match before the sun tanned my skin. When applying the make up it seemed a lot lighter and silkier than Bare Minerals use to wear Golden Medium in BM I applied it and it didn't cover the scars from the cyst or the new cyst I developed last week but it might be due to the lightness of the color.
It did look good on the rest of my face. I applied it around 11am ran around town for a bit and decided to hit the beach, layed out from pm then headed to a local bar for a cold one. When I got there I went for my mirror to touch up and surprisingly I didn't need any touch up. All my make up was still on my face. Although I didn't get in the water completely I did go in up to my waist and for those who've been in a large body of water on a hot bright sunny day should know the sun reflects off the water burning under your chin and face.
Well not with this makeup. My face stayed untouched, unlike Bare Minerals that would have ran off in some spots oily spots. After showering and washing my face I once again went for my mirror and for the first time in a LONG time the redness on my cheeks were gone, I had no itching. This morning the large cyst on my face decreased in size since Friday. I'm so excited I cant wait to try the other samples to see what works best so I can order the full size. The matte looks great might try it one more time today so I can make sure it wont dry my face.

Shortly after i started used bare minerals i started getting covered with cyctic acne. I just chalked it up to hormones and kept using the product. I work in a salon and the facialist their helped me clear my skin but still get breakouts now and then. I was recently told about it causing cystic acne and realized that's what all the bumps I've been getting all over my skin are.

Lol Thanks to your post, I just had a "lightbulb moment" and am quitting BE immediately. Fingers crossed! I have tried the matte and original foundations and haven't had reactions to either. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with Bare Minerals' formulations. People simply have different skin chemistry and react to different products. My skin does very well with Bare Minerals, but reacts to any types of liquid foundation, especially those with perfumes.
